The Maritime University admission campaign continues. This year the total number of applications is several times higher than the recruitment plan in all the major areas. The demand for the technical specialties is growing steadily. As executive secretary of the Selection Committee M.S. Kovalchuk says, the admission campaign has basically been completed. Orders for admission of 649 applicants in various technical and humanitarian areas of study were published on August 3 and 8. Preliminary findings indicate recruitment success. The 2019 campaign demonstrates the predicted increased interest of applicants to engineering specialties. “Informatics and computer engineering” and “Information-analytical security systems” are leaders among the areas of study. The active growth of industry in the region provides employment prospects, so the number of school leavers aimed at working in the technical field is growing every year. The educational programs carried out jointly with our industrial partners attract the applicants’ special attention. The cadet specialties occupy a leading position in the number of applications submitted, and the expansion of the geography of the intake has been observed: Moscow Region, Khabarovsk and Amur Territories, Irkutsk Region, Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Sakhalin and Kamchatka, Buryatia, and Jewish Autonomous Region. The nationals of Vietnam, Indonesia and, for the first time, South Africa have been admitted to the Maritime University according to the intergovernmental quota for training foreign citizens. 350 people have been admitted to the places funded from the federal budget. Humanities are also popular. Jurisprudence, economics, management and HR management have been among the leading ones.
