Our yachtsmen at «SEIKAN CUP – 2019»

On July 7, the University`s yacht Komandor Bering sailed from Vladivostok to take part in the 32nd SEIKAN CUP Race between the islands of Hokkaido and Honshu in Japan. The Race has become traditional and is dedicated to the opening of a railway tunnel passing under the waters of the Sangar Strait. The Race takes place between the two ports of these islands: Hakodate on the island of Hokkaido and Aomori on the island of Honshu. Komandor Bering took part in the Race with varying success at least ten times. The yacht won the first place in its group three times, and once was absolutely first at the finish line among all the starters. Therefore, an experienced crew of five people: V. Gamanov, A. Golenishchev, P. Abramov, K. Kudryavtsev and S. Natalsky hoped to win in this Race. Owing to the changes of the wind direction and force, our yacht was the fifth at the finish line of all the starters and the second in our group. It should be noted that this time all the prizes in our group were taken by Russian yachtsmen. The yachtsmen are determined to prepare for the 33rd Seikan Cup!
