«It is interesting, informative and indispensable»
These are the three words that Ilya Mazhirin, a graduate student at Nevelskoy MSU, uses to describe his internship. At the beginning of April, within the framework of a joint agreement on the project «Onboard Lab» based on the icebreaking multifunctional supply vessel Gennady Nevelskoy, Ilya set off on his first research voyage. The main purpose of the trip was to perform an experiment to determine the adequacy of the developed mathematical mode. «In general, I can say that I got an interesting, informative and irreplaceable experience», says Ilya. As a result, the experiment was a success, the model was suitable for further use. The aim of the thesis of our graduate student is to develop a fundamentally new automatic control algorithm for the dynamic positioning system. To achieve it, it was necessary to get to know the operation of the system installed on the ship Gennady Nevelskoy. Also, while on the ship, Ilya gave a lecture for 3rd year electric engineering cadets using Skype.
