The mysterious Svalbard became closer...
Anastasia Bazhenova graduated from the Faculty of Ecological Safety and Shelf Development in 2013 and entered the postgraduate course at Nevelskoy MSU in the field of Safety in Emergency Situations, the Department of Oil and Gas Safety. Recently she returned from Svalbard, where she studied at the Summer School, having won a grant from the Norwegian Scientific Academy of Polar Studies (NVP).
The Summer School was called The NVP interdisciplinary PhD and post-doc summer school in 2017 «The Arctic Ocean and the marginal ice zone: interdisciplinary research, management practice and policy developments».
It was held in the city of Longyearbyen on the island of Svalbard, the Spitsbergen archipelago, Norway. Just great conditions were created.
The goal of the Summer School was the practice of interaction of specialists from different fields to study one problem. The outcome of the session was to be a joint article, which will be published in an international peer-reviewed journal.
All participants were more or less involved in the study of the Arctic. Mostly, the participants studied marine biology and climatology, but there were also marine lawyers, representatives of the oil and gas industry, and specialists dealing with tourism in the Arctic.
